In the United States, Mercedes-Benz expects to conclude 2010 in third-place, when competing against other luxury automakers counting Lexus and BMW. However, the brand expects to fabricate a record number of cars this year as demand for the E and S-Class is hiking.
Mercedes-Benz said in a declaration today that it plans to produce 1.2 million cars and SUVs in 2010, beating its preceding record of 1.19 million set in 2008.
Our production was running at elevated speed, especially in the second half, Wolfgang Bernhard, who heads Mercedes operations, said in the declaration.
Mercedes is the universal second-largest maker of luxury vehicles, coming in behind BMW.
