Reigning International Surfing Association (ISA) world masters surfing champion Heather "Fergie" Clark has been offended in a car accident, her family said in a statement on Friday.
"She was hit so hard her car is in two pieces, at this stage we are not sure the full level of her injuries or how it will impact on her surfing career in the long term," Clark's mother Dawn Clark said on Friday.
Clark was driving home from a friend's house in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday night when an supposedly drunk driver collided with her vehicle.
"[She] is presently undergoing numerous scans and X-rays [at] the Hibiscus Private Hospital, in Port Shepstone, to decide the degree of her injuries.
